In a world that is rapidly growing more high definition by the minute, it seems only natural that the average consumers should rush right out and buy LCD 1080p TVs. The 1080p televisions are the highest of the high definition televisions, and no matter what the brand name you choose to go with, you cannot go wrong.
What was once the hottest must have item in retail electronics; LCD 1080p televisions have now almost become the norm in most homes. Never late to the party, all of the major networks have made the transition to high definition broadcasting and more and more networks that do not seem to need high def, are going that route anyway.
What exactly does owning 1080p televisions mean? The number 1080 means that there are 1,080 lines of vertical resolution and the letter p represents progressive scan. While that number standing on its own may not seem all that impressive, when compared with standard definition televisions it is quite impressive.
Most standard definition televisions broadcast somewhere in the 700 lines of vertical resolution. The massive improvement that LCD 1080p TV sets provide can be seen when watching sports programs most of all.
When watching a baseball game on one of these higher definition televisions you can see the blades of grass shining in the summer sunlight and you can see the glint of steel on the player's cleats. Some people with the 1080 televisions even claim that they can see the stitches on the gloves, and the rotation of the ball as it leaves the pitcher's hands.
